I congratulate the Methodist Church, the Gambia on its 200 years of existence and for its
invaluable services to the people of the Gambia.
Today we, as Methodists, can boast of significant achievements which include,
among others, significant expansion of our Ministry, provision of Social Services to the
community in the areas of Health, Education and Agriculture, and the favorable
positioning of Methodism in the Christian community. Indeed, while we must admit our
shortcomings in the pursuit of our mission’s goals and objectives, we can also claim
successes in areas which have enhanced our visibility and standing in the community.
We commend all those who have been before us and have fought the good fight to bring
us to where we are today. They have left their own mark which have inspired us after
them. I am sure that they are smiling wherever they are now at the progress we have
made thus far.
As we look forward to the next 200 years, it is our prayer that God will bless us with good
and dedicated leaders that will be able to guide the Methodist Church to higher heights
so that we also, wherever we may be, will smile with satisfaction with gratitude to God.
May we continue to work and live in love and unity and together continue to build the
Methodist Church in the Gambia.
Happy and blessed 200 years anniversary.
